Scullcap is an herbaceous perennial mint with rigid leaves and tiny flowers that can range in many colors (purple, blue, pink & white). This plant is called “skullcap” because its small blue or purple flowers look like it has a cap on its outer whorl. The book “Biotechnology for Medicinal Plants: Micropropagation and Improvement” highlights that skullcap flowers are hooded, tube-shaped and two-lipped, with the upper portion serving as the hood and the lower area possessing two shallow lobes

Traditionally used as tea or for tinctures; can be also used for capsules or smoke
Scullcap has been used to promote emotional well being and relaxation during times of distress
